About

Under ordinary circumstances, we believe that students’ high school experiences too often fails to prepare them for the rigors of work in an information-based economy. Our obsession with standardized testing has steered students away from becoming life-ready to maximizing their test scores. Further aggravated by COVID,  this tough environment should be leveraged by the student community to extend their skills and the unexpected availability to help out the community and businesses in whatever ways possible in return for experience and some outside the classroom learning.

The focus of our organization is a platform that facilitates collaborative partnerships between businesses and high school students. BASIC will help students find short term projects or long term internship opportunities that will round off their educational experience, while preparing them for their adult years.

Services including but not limited to online tutoring sessions, running of basic reports, data entry projects, designing websites/apps, designing marketing/promotional material, etc.

Early exposure to real life work opportunities will help students build their soft skills like communication, time management, and organization. When students are afforded the opportunity to work in the fields of their choice, they are better prepared for their post-secondary experience.

When, businesses provide hands-on workforce experience in the form of internships or short term projects, they are contributing in an invaluable way to ensure that the students are prepared for their next steps in life. As a business partner, there are different ways to positively influence the learning in this particular demographic. From providing incentives to motivate student achievement, to imparting knowledge of real-life business experience to students via mentorship/tutoring, business partners can truly lay the foundational stone in the preparation of the workforce of tomorrow. Whether you are a small business or a major corporation, BASIC needs you. We invite you to invest in our community, students and a promise to build a better future.

We would like to recognize individuals without whom BASIC would not have been possible.
